Detailed Description

a puppet device: an empty endpoint, given life by the existence and the streaming of its counterpart at the other end of the stream

The pod carries no audio hardware and no clock of its own. Its property::pod::* properties are notifications to that counterpart - a stream opens, closes, starts or stops, and the device itself begins or ends a streaming session - never operations on hardware. The counterpart may live anywhere, in any process: typically an audio plugin owning an OS audio endpoint of its own (PortCls, ASIO, CoreAudio, ...). A pod endpoint without a streaming counterpart is idle by definition, not broken.
